Core Values

7 Marks of Our Identity as a Church

1

We Value the Bible

  • It is our authority for faith (what we believe), and life (how we are to live).

  • It is the foundation and center of all our ministries.

  • It is to be known, treasured, taught and applied.

2

We Value the Gospel

  • It is only Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection that can give new life.

  • It is faith in this gospel that makes us born again and therefore is the core of the Christian life.

  • It saves from the penalty of sin, empowers ongoing transformation to live the Christian life, and establishes relationship with God forever.

  • It is the greatest message that anyone can hear, therefore we seek to tell it often and tell it well in the hope that all may have peace with God.

3

We Value People

  • Because people are made in the image of God, life is sacred.

  • Because God loves people in their brokenness we seek to show compassion to them.

  • Because people are born with a sinful nature and under God’s wrath; and because God loves them and wants them to be saved; we will seek to love them by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with them, and help them to grow in Christ-likeness.

  • Because sin destroys people, we will seek to rescue people and free them through Jesus Christ.

4

We Value the Family of God

  • Jesus promised to “build His church”, therefore we believe the church is God’s chosen vehicle for growing believers and ministering to the world.

  • We urge those in our church family to be committed in attendance, prayer, financial support, and service.

  • We desire to be a positive reflection of God to the world around us by how we live and love each other.

  • Since the local church is not a building or a worship service, but the people of God, we are His church both when we are gathered and when we are scattered.

  • We will fellowship with all who are part of His true Church.

5

We Value Authentic Relationships with God

  • Authenticity in our walk with God means that a person’s profession and practice of the Christian faith is genuine.

  • An authentic relationship with God is rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ alone.

  • Authenticity is not produced in our own strength but through yielding to the empowerment of the Holy Spirit as we walk by faith.

  • An authentic relationship with God will be evidenced by a hunger for the truth of God’s word; submission to obey His standards of holiness; faithfulness of service in His name; and heartfelt love for the Lord in worship and personal devotion.

  • We believe we need our fellow believers to encourage us in this pursuit.

6

We Value Personal Growth in Godliness

  • We humbly acknowledge that none of us has arrived to be all that God would want us to be.

  • We are on a journey together to grow in our faith and to be more Christ-like. We know this is a life-long pursuit.

  • We encourage our church family to be involved in Sunday morning classes for all ages coupled with their time of family worship.

  • We encourage people to be in a Life Group and/or a Prayer Group during the week.

7

We Value Missions

  • Becoming followers of Jesus Christ means we not only take on His character, but we join His purpose to make disciples of all the nations.

  • God loves the world and so do we. Therefore, we are committed to sacrificially support and strategically participate in reaching the world for Jesus Christ.
